I took this photo on a late fall hike above Zimmerwald (canton of Bern). The fog, which had held the Mittelland in its grip all day, rose steadily towards evening and finally collided with the sunset.

Empty spaces, what are we living for?

Abandoned places, I guess we know the score, on and on ... (Queen)

 

I took this photo in a huge abandoned thermal spa located near Santa Cesarea Terme in Apulia (southern Italy). The spa had been finished some 20 years ago but was never put into operation due to some legal and political disputes. More than 19 million euros of taxpayers' money was wasted - a scandal that nobody seems to care much about (anymore).

I took this photo during a short visit to Bilbao. In 2024, Athletic Bilbao won the Copa del Rey again after 40 years, which was celebrated with a big party. The screen on the façade shows a scene from this party. I like the perspective.
